I am the sole user with admin account on a notebook running XP-Pro SP2. there is a documents folder which I get an "access denied" when I try to open it. Guest account is turned off. need advice thanks.
You really didn't give us much to work with. What "documents" folder? Where is it located (full path, please)? If you are the only user, how did the Mystery Documents Folder get there?
As a guess and first step, take ownership:
Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP [Q308421] - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421
How Do I Get the Security tab in Folder Properties? - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_security_tab.htm
If taking ownership doesn't work and you need more help, provide more details.
