next was atemp to start ics/windows firewall service from gp
attempted to re install from cd but sttd not valid win32 application
then found related topics to same error msgs on this news group and

Do a system restore to a date/time before the trouble started.

I have a few issues that are driving me crazy....
issue number one i was connected to the internet browsing ebay all
of a
sudden an update message popped up but did not provide an option if
i
wanted
to install it or not . it just installed on its own!! when the
installation
was complete again no option to restart , It just restarted on its
own.
when
My computer rebooted My firewall is gone and everytime i try to
connect
it
it says (ics) service not running do you want to start it. of course
i
click
yes then comes unable to connect to internet connection
sharing/windows
firewall service. I check policy to turn it on from there it kicks
back
error 2001 specified driver invalid

I reviewed this site and i found the Netsh Winsock reset which i
tried.
when
i reset the computer the firewall was back for a few secs then it
went
away
and again same issue this time it would not come back on at all
i downloaded ad-ware2007 to a flash drive tried to install it on my
computer and what did i get? error message not valid win32
application
my xp cd got cracked when i moved but i have the product code still
so
a
friend Gave a copyof the cd. also tried to install that same error
msg
not a valid win32 application

Can someone please Help me with this I dont know what to do???????

After changing the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the CD first, you
must save the changes. Then you restart the computer.
If it does not boot from the CD, I would suspect a defective CD.
And, no, you do not need a boot floppy for XP.
