Yea, it's a PITA, but not one ethical person would tell you that your
machine is 100% clean unless you wipe/rebuild it in a clean environment.

I know a lot of security software providers who would tell you so.

Yep, so do I, but there are lot of people that will tell you anything
you want to hear to get the job too.
