Below are a couple links that may help as to what software to try. Be sure
to not and write anything to that drive including a recovery application
until you have tried to recover your files which should be done by placing
your hard drive as a slave/secondary drive in another computer for attempted
recovery.

I have a family computer that had some stuff on it. It started to run
slowly so I decided to format the disk and re-install windows. I did a
"quick" format and start the process... but, suddenly I realized that
there were a bunch of important pictures I had formatted! !
My question is what I could do to recover the lost pictures? I will
purchase whatever software which is necessary; just point me in the
right direction. I only did the quick format not the full but I don't
know if that would help... Someone please help me!
