See if these help any:
You receive an "Administrators only" error message when you try to visit the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316524
You receive one or more error messages when the system administrator disables Windows Update or Microsoft Update
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326686
If they do not resolve the situation, than post this issue to the Windows Update newsgroup, Chuck:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&cat=en_US_56d1dd45-de9e-4fc5-9bc1-2d1d0de6daee&lang=en&cr=US
First, try accessing the Windows Update site with IE. If/when it fails, copy and past the last 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log into your post and someone will attempt to assist you.
Start > Run > type in
%windir%\windowsupdate.log
Click OK or press Enter

I just bought this used computer that has xp pro on it and every time that I try to get auto updates I get a message that I am denied due to an administrative setting. Iwent through the disable in gpedit but still nothing. I've dropped the level of security on the windows firewall, still nothing. Any suggestions?.
