Hi all,Not really a security problem, but:
Can anybody tell me if it is possible to get a connection using a Netgear
DG384G wireless router on a Tiscali ADSL line which is using a USB modem?
I tried to install the DG384G router but could not get it to connect with
the Tiscali servers. The Tiscali tech guys told me that they are only
concerned with modems as they dont do Wireless/Routers.
So any thoughts or fixes for this query will begratefully accepted?
Regards
Gerryw
Doesn't the Netgear router expect to connect to its modem via ethernet?
Most routers work like that.
If so, then what you need is a modem which convets the aDsl signal to
ethernet and provides a jack for the ethernet cable.
I don't know of a router which accepts a USB modem (or even has a USB port);
I most assuredly did not say that there
aren't any.
I suppose you could setup your computer to provide internet sharing and also
to get the computer to connect to the router
via an ethernet cable. But that certainly would be doing things the hard
way.
