Had that checked out early on in this ordeal. What I have for a computer
is
a "K"Machine (used to be an EMachine until I changed out most of the
parts).
I will try unplugging it and plugging it back in. The techs I worked with
earlier did not find that to be a problem, but, yes, it was checked. What
I
am seeing in my log files is a notation that Windows Auto Update is
shutting
down the computer.
You should change the update mode to "notify" and see if this doesn't
improve the
situation. This is certainly one reason for the system to shutdown when you
have
not told it to.

computer techs, and proceeded to change the power supply, hard drive,

eventually the problem returned. I have reformatted several times,
repaired
Windows several times. Normally I can get a few months out of it

decides to turn off and on by itself.

The one thing I have been noticing is that it looks like Windows Auto
Update
service crashes and the computer looses its mind. I have tried several
things but nothing is working now. I have disabled Windows Update
everywhere
I can find it.

My lastest session did not fix the problem. I did the Windows
reinstall
repair (which usually works for a while), but not this time. I have
been
trying to run the McAfee Stinger but the computer starts its little on
and
off thing about half way through the scan.
