Are you joined to a domain? If so, you won't be able to use Fast User Switching or the Welcome Screen in XP.

I am trying to change the way uses login using the
user accounts control panel.
After I check the box to use the welcome screen and exit the screen
then go back the check is gone and I if I restart I still do not see the
welcome screen, and BTW I can't turn on Use fast user
switching either.
I have turned off enable offline files and disabled
the requirement to press ctrl-alt-delete to log on.
I have looked through the various policies in the management
console but have not found anything that is getting in the way.
I suspect there is some registry setting getting in the way but
so far I have not found anything that will allow me to set it.
Any ideas would help.
Marty
