Copied files/folder not inheriting permissions from parent - Help!

Hi guys,
I'm using XP Pro. Simple File Sharing is turned off.
I have set up a folder called "Share" on the root of my drive C, and
have enabled sharing on this. The idea is that all the other computers
on my network can have full control on all the contents within this
folder. I will call this shared folder "X".
Other computers ("guests") can access X and view it's first level
contents. When I create a file or a folder from scratch straight into
X, they can be accessed with full control by other computers. So far
so good.
However, when I copy a folder or a file from another drive in my
system to X, the copied files and folders do not inherit X's
permissions, but instead retains its old permissions from when it
resided on another drive. The upshot is that my guest computers have
no access to anything copied into X.
Two notes:
1. Checking the "replace permission entries on all child objects with
entries shown here that apply to child objects" checkbox fixes the
problem for all objects currently within X, but it is a manual
operation and a tedious process to have to do everytime I copy a file
or a folder into X.
2. All permissions on X is set to apply to "This folder, subfolders
and files".
So I really don't know what is going wrong!
Can someone figure it out?
Thanks.
R
