Re: ntldr missing...

You might want to try this.....

Boot your pc from XP cd and choose repair system
type 1 for C:WINDOWS
once there, type FIXMBR and press <enter>
System warns if you want to continue, press Y for yes
after is done type EXIT
reboot pc normally

If this doesn't work.....

Follow the same steps and once in prompt (1= C:WINDOWS)
copy the following files by typing the following:
copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

(Where d: is your cd-rom drive where XP cd is inserted)

After these it should be working great....post back with results or
questions, hope this helps.

Hi;

I am using 'XP Professional' and I am finding it difficult to fix the
'ntldr
missing' problem. The pc stops booting as it is not finding the 'ntldr'. I
know that by booting from the 'xp' disk I can fix the problem but in order
to
fix the problem with the 'xp' disk I need the 'Administrator Password',
which
I do not know.

I would like to know if there is a way of recovering or changing the
administrator password from the command prompt. (as my friend gave a disk
that can take me directly to the command prompt without any problems.)

Thanks Very Much for your help,
Ludwig
