Can anyone help me figure out which of by antivirus programs are ok
to
use?

I have downloaded the following programs to my comp (XP)
AOL Security Antivirus, Firewall, spyware (THESE ARE NOT WORKING FOR
ME)-

Anything from AOL will be nothing but trouble. Remove it.

-
Spybot (I deleted this one)-

Spybot Search & Destroy is a good product if kept properly updated.
-
Adaware (Lavasoft)-

Ad-Aware is a good product if kept properly updated.
-
Win Rocket (Acentive)-

Never heard of it.
-
Avast antivirus-

AVast anti-virus is a good product if kept properly updated.
-

I purchased the following from PC Tools:
Spyware Doctor with Antivirus (6/5 was the first time this would
update
in months)
Registry Mechanic
-

Anything from PC Tools is essentially "snake oil;" especially the
Registry Mechanic. Get rid of it.
-
PCTOOLS has alert me that I had a HIGH PRIORITY *"Rogue antivirus"*
on
my comp: Avast
-

As a demonstration of PC Tools' worth, no doubt! This may be due to a

conflict between PC Tools' Anti-virus and Avast, as having multiple
anti-virus applications performing real-time tasks is almost certain to

cause problems.

-
Now I'm freezing up!
-

Lose the PC Tools products. It may be necessary to perform a repair
installation of the OS to undo the damage done, particularly by
Registry
Mechanic.
