I Windows sp2 and am system adm. I recently and need I say accidentally,
deleted myself from the user account after restricting the only other open
account on the system. I can't believe it didn't give me a prompt, such as
"are you sure" you want to do that? Now I can't add or remove any programs
and some of the programs simply aren't working. I don't want that on my
system for one, I want to open my computer and go. Is there any way to delete
the user account? If not, how do I reset myself?! When I go to the user
account, there are no options to add user accounts. Help!!
Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s) and use Start > Run
> "control userpasswords2" to modify the desired account(s).
By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of
WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing
CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login
dialog box.
