I will try to explain this better. When I turn on my laptop, the first thing I get is it asking for a password. After I enter my password, it then takes me to the windows screen where I can click on my name and login. I can't even get to anything other then a black screen asking for a password after starting my computer. That protective password is what I want to be able to remove. I hope that is a better explanation.
Yes, that is a better explanation. You set a password in the BIOS and very unfortunately forgot it. Clearing that password on a laptop depends on the laptop make and model. You can post back with that missing information and we may be able to tell you the next step or you can call the laptop mftr.'s tech support for help. Some laptops have a special backdoor BIOS password that will allow you to enter the BIOS and clear the password requirement. Other laptops will need to be sent back to the mftr. You will undoubtedly need to provide the mftr. with proof of ownership, etc.
