In news:14782C45-979E-4258-B584-F18AB13BB74F@xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
tcahill <tcahill@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> hunted and pecked:
I was attempting to turn on the automatic log on function in XP. At run I
entered "contol userpasswords2", cleared the "users must enter a user name
and password to use this" and without paying attention I entered a
password for Account Administrator, although I log on as TC (an
administrator) I clicked apply, OK etc. When I tried to restart Welcome
TC comes up and a box to enter a password, even though I enter the
password that I inadvertenly assigned to "Administrator" I get msg that
says unable to log on because of an account restriction. Somewhere in
the melee before this I eleminated the TC account.
When I hard reboot, I cannot access the setup menu, I cannot boot into
safe mode or anything else. It just goes to the log in screen. I booted
up using Norton Ghost CD get into the recovery environment, but when I
try to use the recovery wizard it cannot find a restore point. I can
access the files on the computer, but haven't a clue about which ones to
change etc. I'd really appreciate some expert help on this
Thanks in advance
TC
