I have 4 like machines and only two exhibit this problem.
On a Windows XP professional machine set to syncronize with a UNIX
NTP host, I receive the following error in the event log. I have set
it using the net time /setsntp and by modifying the registery
according to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314054
I can run "w32tm /monitor /computers:1.1.1.1" and it can succesfully
set the NTP time from the host, and it is staying syncronized.
Why am I getting this error and how do I make it go away?
*** ERROR, W32TM OUTPUT BELOW IT****
The time service has not been able to synchronize the system time for
96 seconds because none of the time providers has been able to
provide a usable time stamp. The system clock is unsynchronized.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
*** W32TM MONITOR OUTPUT *** (ip is changed, but is a local time
server).
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>w32tm /monitor

1.1.1.1 [1.1.1.1]
ICMP: error IP_REQ_TIMED_OUT - no response in 1000ms
NTP: -0.1358128s offset from local clock
RefID: time-nw.nist.gov [131.107.1.10]
Thank goodness you masked your private IP addresses, or I'd immediately have
been able to steal your identity, ruin your credit rating, and all that fun
stuff. ;-)
Anyway - you might see

for some possible help.
