Thanks for the prompt reply, any chance you could expand a bit on why this
should not be done, what are if any the security issues?

I should explain that we have a mixture of desktop machines running
different OSs, Mac, Sun Sparks and Intels running XP. Our network is
supported by Sun Solaris 10. We do not have any Windows servers supporting
our network.

If this is an office environment this should NOT be done.
The file(s) should be shared on the server and access controlled by the Domain Account Share
Permissions and NTFS Permissions.
