It sounds like your NAV might be a tad broken. Hope it is still working to protect your computer. When the subscription expires, I don't recommend you upgrade to NAV 2007 but rather suggest you use a better and less bloated/invasive antivirus. Recommended programs are Kaspersky, NOD32, Avast, and I use F-Prot 6 on my Windows machines.
In the meantime as a workaround, open NAV and disable the MS Office plugin. That option is somewhere in NAV's preferences.
