Please Help - I have networked my laptop to my pc and can only open files from pc in read only

I have tried all of your suggestions Jesper and none of them work. There
are no files open on the other computer. If I create a new document, it
exhibits the same problem.

Can't afford to buy a USB flash drive.

I did open the "Shared Folders" management interface. It brought up a
shared folders (local) file and under there were three other file folders.
Shares, Sessions, and Open Files. There was not any "Share Permissions" or
"Security" Tabs. There was nothing under Sessions or Open Files. Under
Shares where "Admin", "ADMIN$", "C", "C$", "D$", "Documents", "IPC$",
"print$", "Candace" and "SharedDocs". What does the $ stand for?

In speaking to a computer company out here, they said the reason why I am
having problems is because Windows XP Media Center is not a full version of
Windows. Is that true?
