thank you for the answer and thanks for the tip how to copy accounts.
THAT's what i thought was going to be a pain....copying files to my user
account. i was thinking if i did that....doubleing files...it would be
silly and take too much memory. not to mention my settings i had as Admin.

one question.
when i make myself a user account, i won't be able to log into Admin to
copy it. the Admin disappears if there's a user added. can i copy the
account in safe mode? in safe mode i am able to access Admin.

So I was right, eh? You don't want to be logged into the account *from*
which you are going to copy OR the account *to* which you are going to
copy. To answer the question, the way to log into the built-in
Administrator account in XP Pro is to do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the Welcome
Screen. This will give you the classic logon and you can type
in "Administrator" (without the quotes) and the password. But you don't
want to be logged in as Administrator if you want to copy its files and
settings.

So do it this way (and trust me, it will take really only a few minutes):

1. Control Panel>User Accounts>create a new account -
a. Create your new user account - BlondieBlue (or whatever)
b. Create another new user account - Visitor (for now make this account a
Computer Administrator, not Limited)
c. Disable the Guest account while you're there.

2. Presuming you are logged into the built-in Administrator account, log off
and log into BlondieBlue. After the Desktop is finished loading, log off
and into the new Visitor account.

3. From the new Visitor account, follow the instructions to copy the
built-in Administrator's account stuff to BlondieBlue's account. Here's the
link again for your convenience:

Copy a User Account - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811151
Read the caveats about importing emails and addressbooks.

4. Once you are finished copying, log into the new BlondieBlue account and
neaten it up, get it feeling like home. Then you can log back into the
Administrator account and delete any data that is now living in the
BlondieBlue account so you don't have duplicates. Don't delete anything
until you are sure you have it in BlondieBlue where you want it!

5. Log back into BlondieBlue and go back to Control Panel>User Accounts and
make the new Visitor account a Limited account.

All of this will take you less time to do than it did for me to type. ;-)
