Re: My desktop dissappeared

In article <OKDlgPHKHHA.2140@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
bchambers@xxxxxxxxxxxx says...

If you abruptly removed power before the OS had written the dynamic
user-specific portion of the registry from memory back to the hard
drive, you've likely irretrievably corrupted that portion of the
registry. It may be necessary to create a new user account, salvage
what files you can from the old profile, and then delete it.

His desktop won't load - how do you suggest he create a new user
account?

He could of course simply try logging into the 'hidden' admin's account
by pressing F8 at boot, and see if a desktop loads from there
subsequently creating a new account, but that might not be a technical
enough answer for some....
