#1- I just finished downloading some Critical Updates for my computer
(WinXP/IE6) and the one marked KB925454 had the description as
"Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP - 1.4 MB
3 minutes." But then when I started the download I saw that the size was
7.40 MB. Why the large difference in size stated and downloaded size?
#2- Also, KB890830 downloaded 4.60MB, while the download last month was
730KB. Why the large increase in download size? I have been using
KB890830 for quite a long time.
#3- Also, before I began the downloads, it stated at the top of the page
that the total download size for all would be 9.7MB. The actual total of
downloads was well over 15MB.
Quite a difference in the size of download compared to size in
description. And a lot more time spent on the download for those of us
using dial-up.
Can anyone explain the differences in size descriptions and download
sizes? Thank you.
Alice
I'm sorry that I don't know the answer, but you might have a better chance
of getting one from a Windows Update expert if you post in the WU
newsgroup:
