Hi, I had some files on my external harddrive that i encrypted a few
months back. I recently formatted my computer and when I tried to access
the files, I got an access denied message.
I went into the security tab setting, and set my user and administrators
to have full access, and took ownership, (and the users and groups in the
security tab confirm this), but when I try to open files it is still
saying access denied.
Is there anything else i can do, or any way to confirm if i did anything
wrong?
Thanks,
Vasant
If you used EFS to encrypt them and didn't keep a copy of your key, then
your files can't be accessed whether you have ownership or not - you need
that EFS key to decrypt them.
