Re: Can I delete an account

Probably.

Delete ClientX from \Documents and Settings.

But you may get a popup warning. Ignore it if you want the stuff gone.

Thank you for responding.

I open Computer Management and clicked to Local Users and Groups\Users.
The account that appears in Documents and Settings is not in Local Users
and Groups\Users.

It is OK to simply delete the account as a folder?

Thank you in advance.

See if the account is listed in Local Users and Groups.

Delete a user account in XP Pro only

To delete a user account
1. Open Computer Management.
Right click My Computer and click Mangage.
Or Start | Run | Type: compmgmt.msc | Click OK.

2. In the console tree, click Users.
Where?
Computer Management\System Tools\Local Users and Groups\Users

3. Right-click the user account you want to delete, and then click
Delete.

Notes
* To open Computer Management, click Start, point to Settings, and then
click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then
double-click Computer Management.
* When you need to remove user accounts, it is a good idea to disable the
accounts first. When you are certain that disabling the account has not
caused a problem, you can safely delete it.
A deleted user account cannot be recovered.
* The built-in Administrator and Guest accounts cannot be deleted.

I have XP Pro on a workstation in a workgroup domain with other Xp
machines.

An folder appears under Documents and Settings in Explorer for an old
account I used to use (let's call it ClientX) that does not show up
when I use the Control Panel to display all the current User Accounts.

Can I simply delete this ClientX account folder using Explorer?

Thanks.
