OK, I think I understand the "new" concept of user-based access
control vs. the old and tried (and dearly missed here) file and
directory security password control of Windows 98. But I can't get it
to do for me what I need it to do for me.
So, what I would like to accomplish is to create a new user group
called "JustUsGirls" consisting of me and my other coworkers and allow
all members of this Group, and this group only, to access to my shared
folder. How do I accomplish that?
Very easily. Basically you will create a new user group from Computer
Management in Administrative Tools called "JustUsGirls" (groups). You
will add the desired users to the group, not forgetting to include the
Administrator. Then on whatever shares you want "JustUsGirls" members
to have access, set the permissions on each share accordingly. You can
make the shares accessible only to the "JustUsGirls" group (and
Administrator).
