Re: Problem with SP2 upgrade

Hi:
If it's not too late, first pull any DSL or Cable connections off
before you start the computer. Then try Start, All Programs,
Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Pick an earlier day when
your computer was fine. See if that works.

Thanks for the help. I could uninstall SP2 successfully. But, now my
computer takes ages to start up and shut down. Sometimes, it hangs
just before the Starting Windows screen.
Any help welcome.
I already told you what I thought you should do. Clean up the computer
and try and reinstall SP2 after properly preparing it. If the machine
is too b0rked because you originally installed SP2 on a malware-ridden
machine, back up your data and clean-install Windows. Install drivers,
do any OEM pre-SP2 prep, install SP2 - only now can you connect to the
Internet with the Windows Firewall in place - do all subsequent Windows
Updates. Install programs from installation media, restore data from
backups.
