Re: Lock-Ups ERROR - IPSec Service

If the problem was related to the video card then booting into Safe Mode
should bypass the problem. Even though you one time did install updated
drivers it would be worth it to try and do so again by going to ATI website
and downloading and installing the latest drivers for your video card to se
if that helps or not. Having said that random lockups can be hardware
related with the biggest causes being a bad/flaky power supply, bad/flaky
ram, overheating CPU due to CPU fan failing or heatsink being clogged, or a
adapter card/cable/ram loose in the motherboard. If the computer has not
been cleaned in a long time then pulling the cover off and using compressed
air to blow out the CPU heatsink and any others can work wonders. If it is
not hardware related an upgrade/repair installation may be something to
consider. Unfortunately I do not know what all the numbers in the system
error mean though Microsoft might. The system error message may or may not
be related to the lockups. If they always appear with a timestamp just
before the lockup then they probably are significant.

Steve,

Thank You very much as your suggestion was the solution to that IPSec
ERROR
log message.

However, my machine is still Locking-Up.

At the time I didn't wish to confuse matters - so I didn't include the
ERROR
message which always succeeded the Security ERROR message.

It's a Systems Logged ERROR message which I have repeatedly reported to
Microsoft and have always gotten the same answer. Need to install Updated
ATI
Technologies Display Driver.

Which I have long time ago - and still am plaqued by this chronic darn
Locking-UP.

The System ERROR message is as follows, just in case You ever come back to
this Post:

System Error Category 102 Event ID 1003

Description: Error code 000000ea. parameter1 83062020, parameter2
83450720,
parameter3 83523f60, parameter4 00000001

Thank you,
Jean

Unless you are using ipsec such as in an Active Directory domain network
or
using an ipsec VPN connection you do not need ipsec. What you could try
is
to enter services.msc in the run box and then hit OK. Find ipse services
and
in it's properties set it to disabled for startup type and then stop the
ipsec service or reboot the computer. You will need to be logged on as a
local administrator to do that. Normally the ipsec service should not
cause
a problem but if disabling it fixes your problem then I would do it.

Hello,

My machine is frequently/randomly Locking-Up. Event Viewer Log Message
prior
to Freeze is following:

IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of
Network
Interfaces on the Machine. This can be a potential Security hazard to
the
machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection
as
desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in
to
further diagnose the problem.

I've searched all over in Admin. Tools and cannot find the snap in.
Pls.
instruct me how to locate it. Thanks. And also

It creates another Error Message in System which MS Internet Message
Window
says I need to update my ATI Display Driver. I have done this long ago
and
still this computer keeps Locking-Up continuously.

Please, help me if You can.

Thank you,
Jean
