I have the same problem, except there is no password protection. The error
message is get is something to the effect: You do not have the proper
permissions to access this file." I try changing permissions, but Help says
to right click on the file or folder, the properties, then the Security tab.
I have no Security tab, just General, Sharing and Customize. I have a lot of
Office templates on that drive and thought I would be able to access them.

I have an XP home user profile on my new computer trying to access my
password protected XP pro user profile on my old hard drive. when I click
on
it it says access denied. I've had a similar issue before, to fix it I
switched the view options to some type of simple file sharing and took
control of all my files. however there does seem to be that "simple"
option
on XP home. I need help taking control of my own files. thank you
.
