Thanks for the info. Ironically enough my subscription to NAV expires
tomorrow. I'll start looking into removing it and then looking into
either Kaspersky or Nod32.

The improvment would be to remove NAV and install either Kaspersky or
Nod32.
Not only do these two require far fewer resources, they also have
better
detection rates.
It isn't easy to remove NAV; you need to carefully follow the
instructions
on the Symantec website.
