A user needs that user right to shutdown a computer if that is desired. It
is also possible that Group Policy is also hiding the shutdown option but I
would try adding the user/group to the shutdown the system user right first.
You can run rsop.msc on the computer to see what Group Policy settings are
being applied to it and the GPO that is applying the setting. -- Steve

I have a bussiness network with thin clients (XP Embedded) and Terminal
Servers (non-altiris, Win2k3). Some thin clients have a problem that when
a
person is logged in, the shutdown button has dissapeared. I might have
found
the solution, but I want to be sure before I make an action.

I thought this is a policy problem since the TC logs in on the domain, and
in the OU policy I found a rule in dutch (since the system is dutch) over
here:
Computerconfiguration > Windows-settings > Security-settings > Local
administration > Assigning user permissions
The rule is: "Shut Down System" the users this is about are not in that
group.

Am I correct or could it be another thing?
