You may have SP2 on disk but it probably is the .exe download for SP2. If
you have access to another computer you could try extracting the files from
the SP2 file and then burning them to a CD so that you would have the \i386
folder. The link below explains how to do it under point number 5 as an

Background: the hard disk on my laptop failed. HP kindly sent me a new one
but of course its blank. I have tried loading up Windows XP twice, from
two
different CDs. On both ocaasions, about half an hour into the installation
it
asks for the SP2 CD, on which it expects to find a folder called \i386. I
have three SP2 CDs NONE of which have a folder called \i386!!!!
Any ideas how I can get Windows XP back onto my laptop?
