I wouldn't say the security is "impenetrable", more like no one cares to
hack the few people who are using it as they represent very little in terms
of computer users. If it was "impenetrable", then there wouldn't have been
periodic security releases for the OS. =)
As for offering OneCare for free.. It is right now and I wouldn't use it in
lieu of.. well.. anything else in a production environment. It is not
up-to-par with the other offerings out there by far. And some of those
other offerings - they are free.
