authenticated user dcom permission ok?

Looking under ComponentServices - MyComputer I see the following under Com
Security:

Access Permissions:
SELF
SYSTEM

Launch & Edit:
ADMINISTRATIVE
INTERACTIVE
SYSTEM

Question: Is there any reason that "Authenticated Users" cannot be added?
to both catagories?

Is SELF is a member of USERS which is a member of Authenticated Users? Then
it would be redundent. Is there any advantage / disavantage adding
"Authenticated Users" to both of those items.

I have been asked to add that user as the com app doesnt seem to work right
without it.

On a similar subject, I would like to be able to add those users using
VBScript. I found out how to use "winmgmts:" to set default properties on
that same dcomcnfg popup (another tab next to Com Security). This was found
by googleing "setting default process security level" , but I was unable to
find how to add a user to that default Com Security" using WMI and VBScript.
Maybe somebody can point out a reference so we dont have to run dcomcnfg.exe
on each system.

...thanks..
