Try booting into Safe Mode to se if it still happens or not. The reason to
do that is because Safe Mode is a barebones system startup that disables
your normal startup applications [including most malware] and non critical
services. If it does not happen in Safe Mode then you most likely have a
conflict with applications, memory leak, etc. that could cause the operating
system to reboot. Some services such as RPC reboot the computer upon
failure. Also use Event Viewer to look in the application and system logs
record any error events that happen just before the reboot which may be
helpful in tracking the problem down. If it still happens in Safe Mode and
nothing is recorded in the system and application logs it could be a
hardware problem such as a problem power supply, overheating CPU, or bad
memory. If you know how to, carefully remove the cover of the computer take
a look to see if the CPU heatsink and fan is clogged with dust and if so
blow it out with compressed air that comes in a can. The CPU fan should also
be running when the computer is turned on. -- Steve
