Hi
My problem is about DCOM security configuration under Windows XP. So if
there is any newsgroup more relevant to my problem everybody are wellcome
to point me to that newsgroup.
We have 2 notebooks with Windows XP SP2 connected to our office domain.
Windows firewall is turned off on both systems. First notebook configured
to be a DCOM-server (it runs server application). Second notebook
configured to be a DCOM-client accessing server application running on
first noteboook. When both notebooks connected to office LAN all works
fine. Now we switch notebooks off, disconnect them from LAN and connect
them directly one to one with a simple twisted pair cable. In this
physical configuration DCOM fails to grant access to server application.
I turned on logon auditing on first notebook (DCOM-server) and i can see
"Unknown user or wrong password" error in system security log. So logon
attempt is failed.
Is there any way to make DCOM working in our configuration when domain
controller is not available?
