Here is my dilemma. My hard rive “crashed” and after three hours with Dell
they indicated no hope and sent me replacement drive. I have subsequently
installed and am back up and running. However I now need to resurrect my
files from the old hard drive. I have reinstalled the old hard drive as
slave. In Explorer I can see the files are there. However, Windows is not
allowing me access to them: getting the “Access is Denied” statement. We use
XP and some users utilized the password feature of XP to gain access to their
files. My theory is Windows isn’t getting (or asking) password for files on
old hard drive and is therefore denying access. These files are important –
would appreciate suggestions on how to get to these files. Thanks.
