WINDOWS XP WEIRD PROBLEM

i RECENTLY HAD TO CLEANUP MY xp system and I installed the Microsoft Spyware
Software. After cleaning it up I installed 2 different software programs.
Both programs have the same issue. When I click to open them, they both open
for about 10 seconds then close. Neither one will open on the desktop, yet
other programs previously installed do. Has anyone had an issue with programs
opening then closeing up
