Hello grp:
Standalone WinXP SP2 home; single user:
Suddenly (past week or so), I've noticed that in my WMI/Services,
Application Management module (svchost -k netsvcs) is missing. At
first, so was ALG (application layer gateway?), but I figured out how
to locate the appropriate CAB and reload that aspect. However, I'm at
a loss as to how I go about replacing this "module". I've
double-checked the file integrity through prog called FileAnalyzer;
and, despite my naive' apprehension at some of the text "inside" the
files that supposedly group "around" AppMgmt, I don't know how to tell
if a critical file is missing. I've tried looking through the original
lists of files in original setup logs etc...but I'm going cross-eyed
and starting to mumble to myself uncontrollably! (I HATE when that
happens! :P )
Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated because it also seems to have
an affect on my performance/event logs and I'm wondering if a trojan
has insinuated itself into my system, despite my layers of firewalls,
anti-VIR/Trojan/Spyware progs.
Thanks in advance.
patrick
