Dowloading Service Pack 2 messed up my pc

I run Windows XP. Downloaded Service Pack 2 and now the pc goes immediately
into safe mode. Have hooked up a hard drive with Windows 98 on it and
another with Windows 95 on it nd can work as normal. One of the pc guys at
work seems to thing the Service Pack messed up clocking somehow. HELP!
