I recently upgraded from ME to XP. Because of problems I was having doing a
regular upgrade I had to use my restoration discs and start from scratch. I
have Norton 2003 and reinstalled that after the upgrade. I only have a dial
up and while online to download updates from Microsoft and Symantec, I was
bombarded with virus warnings that Norton was cleaning up. I’ve now
completed most of the updates, but now I’m getting tons of installation
pop-ups. Of course, they stay on top of your page and when I try to exit out
I get a message saying I won’t be able to view the content on the page
without their software. As soon as I exit out of that message, I get a new
pop-up. Most are from CDT which I found out is Adware. (One of the
softwares is Slotchbar) I tried setting all my internet options to high and
that didn’t work. I downloaded my ISP (PeoplePC) tool bar which has a pop-up
blocker included, but still they come.
Is there ANY way to stop these things? I’m finding it nearly impossible to
navigate the internet with 5, 6 or 7 of these things hanging there. HELP!!!
