Previously posted, offered solutions didn't solve this problem, some new
info

Users group accounts cannot see the printers

This is a printer sharing problem or permissions problem, at least that is
my assumption at this point. Note that by sharing I am only concerned with a
single computer with multiple users, not a network share!

-10 identical HP d220 computers purchased as a package

-All came with XP Pro installed

-All have had Office 2003 installed, site license

-Not networked (yet)

-Simple File Sharing still enabled (tried both ways on problem units)

-User accounts setup on all for specific students, Limited Accounts (Users
group)

-All user accounts can use all of the Office 2003 applications

-On 8 of the computers all users can see the installed printer

-On 2 of the computers --for just the limited accounts (Users group)--.

---Nothing shows up in the Printers and Faxes dialog

---Default printer cannot be set, print jobs cannot be cancelled

---Word 2003 does see the attached printer and will print to it!

---NotePad does not see the attached printer, prints to a default (MS Office
Doc Image Writer)

One HP printer is shared by 6 of the computers via the expediency of
plugging it into the USB port on the computer that needs to print. On 4
computers everything works as it should. I have spent hours making sure
there are no differences between the configuration on the computers that
work correctly and the two that do not, including the registry, the spool
folder and the Program Files folder containing the HP printer.

TIA for any help you folks can offer. This is very baffling to me.

Mark
