If the RPC service doesn't start, nothing will work right
because everything is dependant on it. I'm dealing with
the same issue. What I've found is that by default it's
set to start with the logon of "NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK
SERVICE". My problem is that NOTHING will start under
that logon. It has to be changed to "LOCAL SYSTEM"
If RPC is not running, the only way to fix it is to do it
through REGEDIT. Open the registry editor and change the
service logon to "localsystem". Then reboot. That will
apply a bandaid fix allowing RPC to start, if your issue
is the same as mine.
Danged if I can find out what's wrong with NETWORK
SERVICE tho... and how to fix it. Tech support is stumped.
