SP2 workstation won't see home LAN

Well, SP2 is certainly secure!!! It went on fine from
the Windowsupdate site, but after it installed the
workstations would no longer see my router and therefore,
would not communicate with anyone. Didn't matter what I
did to the network settings, I could not get the
workstations to recognize the LAN.

I finally deinstalled SP2 (which worked very well), but I
have been waiting for it for a long time and don't want
the exposure of not having it installed. There were no
configuration options for how the computer was connected
to the internet. As I only have two computers on the LAN
I did not download the administrator's version, opting
rather to do each machine from windowsupdate. Would I
have had more luck with the Admin version?

One other issue, while I had it installed, I tried to
disable the firewall. This worked (when you look at the
details, it showed up as being disabled), but when you
checked the status from the Security Centre it
continually showed up as being ON...very strange.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
