Norton AntiVirus 2004 Installation

When I installed this I got an error message . I go to Symantek Website and one thing they ask is to check MSCONFIG. I do a START ---> RUN and type MSCONFIG and all I get is the cursor turning to hour glass and a VERY brief message window that says something about a 'hidden file'. I tried to open MSCONFIG after searching but have not found the application which makes this "readable". What is it that doesn't display the System Utility as Symantek seems to expect??
