It sounds as though you assigned your user
account "limited" access rights rather
than "administrator" rights when you installed XP.

The only solution I can think of is to reinstall & setup
an account as administrator.

Sorry

>I installed Windows XP Pro and am the only user on my
computer. I can't install my printer, update drivers, use
Device Manager, or do anything! It says that access is
denied and to contact the administrator. There is no other
visible way to log on, so I can't see if my original logon
info was entered incorrectly. I've tried every single
suggestion that I've read on here and a few other places.
Nothing works. I'm ready to take this XP disc to Bill
Gates' office and "plant it" in any available hole!!! I
paid almost $300 to be controlled by this stupid OE and I
do not recommend it to anyone!
