spyware and about:blank

I appear to have a virus that changes my IE home page
to "about:blank". I have other symptons too.
Spyware informs me that I have a virus in my
computer,when I invoke IE, but I dont run spyware on my
computer. It looks to me like spyware put it on, not
want me to pay to take it off.
Adware6.0 will remove the virus it finds, but invoking IE
just brings it back.
