System restore error

This isn't just a system restore error, but I figure if I
can get that working I can reverse any other damage.
Here's the whole problem.

First, while I was surfing the internet, my virus program
notified me that there was some malicious script
attempting to run on my computer, but it said that it was
able to stop it.

However, right after that happened my computer started to
screw up. The internet will no longer allow me to set my
own home page, it just keeps changing
to "res://zvoov.dll/index.html#96676" automatically.

Also I keep getting pop-ups wherever I go saying that I
have spyware, but my adaware is not registering any
spyware.

I figured that somehow something got into my system files
somehow, whether it be a virus or whatever, so I tried to
use my system restore to remove anything that may have
downloaded onto my computer lately, but my system restore
now seems to have stopped working.

Also I viewed the system event viewer and since these
problems started it has been recording that a file
replacement has been attempted on a protected system file
and that the file was restored to the original version to
maintain system stability. The event viewer has recorded
this repeatedly since the problems started.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this but if you
could I'd really appreciate it.
