Kinda new to this but lots of fun lately with trojans, spyware and adware. Norton AV installed/running/current. Ad-aware 6 also installed, recent scan. Also recently scanned at Trend's Housecall site. Possible registry prob? Only yesterday discovered the event manager logs whilst trying to determine the cause of an occasional glitch that shuts down my keyboard, forcing me to warm boot to recover. Old problem I was trying to tackle. Also have an error when the comp tries to load something called mrtRate, whatever it is won't start.
WinXP Home on a 2003 Compaq Presario 6000Z w/SP1 and current updates
AMD Athlon XP2200+, 768mb RAM (PC2100)
ATI Radeon 9000 All-in-Wonder AGP video
Soundblaster Live! Value 5.1 PCI audio
Norton Antivirus 2003
Internet Connection Firewall active on Earthlink dialup, using Lucent v.92 Winmodem
LAN card installed but disabled, no LAN to tie it to
Lexmark Z23 printer
and a partridge in a pear tree, so to speak. Ideas? Comments? Recently had a copy of Spybot, old version, installed but uninstalled it; skipped the upgrade to the new version after reading a quantity of customer complaints.
My computer seems to be behaving normally other than the keyboard glitch. One other oddity: something called ShowBizComm is listed in the Event Manager, but doesn't appear anywhere else. Yet. I'm looking for it, be back here by 8 pm Pacific.
