Automatic Windows updates not working

Hi,

I am using Windows XP profesional. Automatic update is
not working in my PC though I hv made all required
setting in control pannel--->system-->Automatic update. I
hv tried many option but not getting through.

Also I am not getting windows update icon on task bar.

Can anybody help me to suggest how to make automatic
update operational.
