Recently, I've been unable to get virus signature updates for Norton
AntiVirus. LiveUpdate says it works but they don't. I can see that all of
the folders on C:\ have the "Read Only" checkbox checked. I can save to
these folders from local applications, but not from the web. For example,
when I try to "Save this web page as web page complete", I can't. As
observed by Serge, if I uncheck the "Read Only" checkbox, it's automatically
rechecked when I next look at the setting.
Using a cross-over cable, I mounted my C: drive on another computer and then
checked the drive for viruses. No viruses were found. It's beginning to
feel as though a recent Windows Update added security features which are
causing my problem.
Most annoying.
