SP1 and Vaio

I am trying to update a VAIO notebook PCG-FX370, and
after installing SP1 to XP Home, the machine no longer
gets beyond the desktop image. I can check the task
manager, but nothing loads. I have checked the Sony
website and installed the only patch that they have
released.

Please help!
